    Its a Girl !!!!!!!

Our bundle of joy came into our arms on Jan 27th, making the day the most important day of V’s and my life so far. The birth of our little girl has been the single most gratifying experience of my life until now. Although I have known my little one for a good 9 months,  the kicks and the somersaults I have felt inside me, it was fascinating to put a face to the little person I have known and carried within me. The feeling is just beyond what I can express in words. To put it straight, the birth of our daughter has reinforced my purpose in life. Labor…

    The Drama of Thanksgiving Shopping

It was my 2nd thanksgiving in the US and was the first time to have taken part in the thanksgiving doorbusters drama. And needless to say, the first time experiences stay with you forever. I was super thrilled to be able to witness the whole mad doorbusters rush that I had heard stories about from friends and relatives in the US. Whether I was able to shop anything or not, I was determined to be a part of the gig. And V was a sweetheart in helping me have a good, safe experience. V has gone through the whole thanksgiving mayhem earlier, so he was a great mentor and helped…

    Turning Thirty

A Lady Who Thinks She Is Thirty – Ogden Nash Unwillingly Miranda wakes, Feels the sun with terror, One unwilling step she takes, Shuddering to the mirror. Miranda in Miranda’s sight Is old and gray and dirty; Twenty-nine she was last night; This morning she is thirty. Shining like the morning star, Like the twilight shining, Haunted by a calendar, Miranda is a-pining. Silly girl, silver girl, Draw the mirror toward you; Time who makes the years to whirl Adorned as he adored you. Time is timelessness for you; Calendars for the human; What’s a year, or thirty, to Loveliness made woman? Oh, Night will not see thirty again, Yet…

    Loos reflect culture

I was watching a TED video about “lets talk crap” and it spun me off tangentially into thinking about my experiences of loos across the globe. I have been a solo traveler from a young age and I first started traveling to Hyderabad in overnight trains and buses. Much to the nuances that come with a solo woman traveling in India, one of the biggest has been using the loos or so-called loos in dark scary random places on long overnight journeys. But more about those amusing stories for another time. As a solo traveler, you tend to get more watchful, you are more observent and you pay extra attention…

    Hola Mexico!

We were 30,000 ft above land and I woke up when the pilot announced that we were starting to descend to Monterrey. V had looked up the place on google and had told me that it is a very pretty place. So I was excited to see the nature around. It was surrounded by mountain ranges and there were a lot of harvested fields on the outskirts of Monterrey. It resembled rural India in many ways. I could see cows and sheep grazing in the grasslands, unplanned twisted curvy roads drew the borders around cluster of houses and I could also see some tall buildings that edged one of the mountains and…

    Desh to Videsh

My journey from Bangalore to Texas was remarkable in more ways than one this time. Although I sat on an excruciatingly painful long flight next to an irritating old lady who occupied half of my already tiny economy seat, the journey still didn’t seem too long as my mind was racing through all the wonderful thoughts of what would happen in the course of next 24 hours. I was reuniting with my husband after months of long distance, I was excited to see our first nest we have started to build together, our first car, our first time living abroad.. Yes, My whole new chapter of firsts has just begun and it feels like…

    Ah! March is here..

There are so many things I love about March and what tops the list is the start of spring! It is a pretty sight to watch the landscape choke with flowers at their colourful best, the greens of all shades burst forth on bare trees, and ofcourse the water in the swimming pool is not too cold anymore 🙂 As I was driving through stifling traffic today, I had enough time to take my eyes off the road and that is when I was drawn to a lane of Jacarandas.  They look like hazy purple smoke when seen from afar and they make the best flower carpets! Ah, the joy of little things.. As…

    The Sound of Music

It has been raining heavy in Bangalore and just as I stood by the balcony enjoying the endless water droplets from the sky fall on the flowers in our garden, I started singing involuntarily. I was singing “These are a few of my favorite things” from the movie – Sound of Music! And boy oh boy – did it bring back memories in a flash! If you were to ask me which is my favorite movie – its got to be unmistakably the musical of 1959 – The Sound of Music. The movie begins high in the misty Alps and is about a free spirited young Austrian woman, Maria (Julie…

    Run Forest Run!

Well, I am no Forest Gump, but I have been on a Running spree lately. I have been inspired bigtime by NKRunnergirl and her blog posts. V helped me get started with running almost 2 years ago but we have digressed from running and have gotten more into cycling for quite a while now. Although I have been running for a while, I have not been able to cross my 8 mile threshold. Although my mind wants to do more, my body starts to give up and my thighs start to feel like big logs of wood. Learnt recently that setting a target is very helpful in pushing the body…

    Conflicting Thoughts..

So its been a long time since I wrote on my space here. The mundane routine of juggling between work and other essential things had kept me from coming here for so long. As I stare out of my window looking at the lush green plants, the droplets of water on the leaves  and the butterflies making their way to the flowers, I realize the manic city life is getting to me. I am a person who loves change and its interesting how a place can get to you once you get stuck in a cobweb. A routine of just sailing through the day. Such are the times that makes me want…
